Sherry entered college on a mining engineering scholarship and emerged as a journalist, thanks in part to sharing a residence hall with the editor of the campus newspaper, who helped her uncover a flair for writing. After eight years as a newspaper reporter and editor, she landed at Boise State in a job that combines all of her favorite things — continual learning about science, business, the arts and issues of the day, interacting with media to feel that deadline rush, and writing. She’s still a news junkie whose family accuses her of having an NPR addiction.
Sherry Squires is senior communications specialist in the Office of Communications and Marketing. In addition to writing for FOCUS on Boise State University magazine, she writes for the university’s research magazine, Explore, promotes student and faculty accomplishments, and serves as a liaison with the media.
